Xbox is reportedly losing around $150 on every Xbox Series X|S console sold right now (even after the price hike).
That’s… not good. I wonder if Sony and Nintendo are facing similar.
Xbox Helix and Steam — and why it no longer makes sense
• Affordability and the “memory crisis” (RAMpocalypse)
• PlayStation has decided to stop releasing its single-player games on Steam.
• Roughly 75% of Ally owners subscribe to Game Pass.
• Among non-subscribers, attach rates to the Xbox PC store are poor: about 25% if they already own an Xbox console, but only 2% if they do not.
• New users essentially treat the device as a Steam box. Exclusive leaked data from us suggests a huge amount of Xbox “Helix” users could simply ditch Xbox for Steam, inside Xbox’s own hardware. It’s not a one-way street
If Xbox Helix supports Steam games, along with all the other PC storefronts, that increases the value of Xbox Helix.
Ask yourself, if Xbox Series X supported Steam right now, how much more would you value the Series X?
Helix Speculation:
• Option 1: Some kind of paywall or subscription to open up to third-party stores.
• Option 2: Semi-open, revenue sharing model with Epic Games’ on PC or other strategic partners.
• Option 3: Fully open, absurd price point and all.

XBOX Game Pass has reportedly fell short of reaching Microsoft’s target subscribers🚀
Circana’s analyst Mat Piscatella stated that he believes the biggest problem:
✅Most don’t play enough different games
✅“I don’t see a solution”
✅Most people don’t play lots of games
✅Focusing more on indies won’t save it
